Why The Move?

July 7, 2008

If you are reading this, you now know that this blog has been moved from blogpsot. First of all, let me apologize for the “redirection” screen that pops up before you get to this page, there is nothing I can do about it.

This is one of the main reasons why I moved this blog. Unfortunately, blogpsot has become the new home for scammers. Since blogging is one of the easiest and fastest, not to mention cheapest, ways to get indexed in Google, the rise of useless, keyword stuffed blogs has been tremendous. The price to pay for the rest of us includes these annoying redirection warnings, among other things.

The second reason for the move, is to more easily integrate the Spanish version of this blog. Sure, I could (and did) have a second blog on the same topic, but wholly in Spanish. Not only is it a lot more work to maintain two blogs, but lo and behold, Google penalizes both blogs for targeting the same keywords. Setting up another Google account takes care of that problem, but then what next? Google, and rightly so, is always trying to perfect it’s algortihms to weed out the truly spammy sites, but a lot of legitimate people get caught up in it as well. Given that blogspot has become one of their targets, now is the time to leave it to the spammers.

Can you still make money by using blogspot? Sure you can. The minefield is expanding, but common sense, intelligence and an aversion to trickery will win out. If you really want to find out how to make money by using blogs, have a look at Grizzly’s Make Money Online blog on the subject. He is one of the few (very few) people that actually know what they are talking about. Does he know everything? Nope, nobody does. Is he long winded? Yup, but at least he doesn’t copy-and-paste someone else’s ideas. Does he want to sell something? Sure, who doesn’t, but he doesn’t ram it down your throat. The rest, and there are thousands upon thousands, simply want to sell you someones get-rich-quick scheme.

Stay tuned. The Spanish pages will be coming online this week.
